There are dozens of Matter-compatible smart locks on the market in 2026. Most "best smart lock" lists rank them in one pile, which is useless. A lock that fits a European Euro-profile door physically cannot fit a North American deadbolt door, and the reverse is also true.

So this guide is organized by the only filter that matters first: what kind of door do you have?

• Euro profile cylinder doors (most of Europe): the lock turns your existing key cylinder from the inside. You keep using the physical key from the outside.
• US and Canadian deadbolt doors: the lock replaces the deadbolt, or it mounts on the deadbolt you already have.
