Apple announces HomeView smart home display for Matter accessories

Apple has introduced Apple HomeView, a home device with a 7-inch display that combines music, FaceTime calls, home monitoring and smart home control. It comes in a tabletop version and a wall-mounted version. Apple says HomeView works with Apple Home Collection and with other Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories. Its smart home features require a HomeKit- or Matter-enabled accessory, sold separately.

Apple lists HomeView as one of the home hubs that Apple Home Collection features depend on, alongside HomePod and Apple TV. The announcement does not say whether HomeView acts as a Thread border router.

Pre-orders opened on October 13 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and India, and availability begins Friday, November 13. Apple's announced US price is $299 for both HomeView and HomeView (Wall Mounted). Apple says HomeView will not be sold in the European Union.
