Baldwin Matter Devices

Baldwin is a long-established American maker of premium door hardware, known for handlesets, knobs and levers in decorative finishes. Its smart locks bring that hardware styling to connected entry.

The Baldwin product listed here is the 8220 electronic deadbolt, model 8220LL, sold in a version with Bluetooth and Matter. Matter support allows the lock to be added to a compatible Matter controller, so it can be locked, unlocked and checked from platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home or Amazon Alexa, and included in automations with other brands' devices. Bluetooth provides direct local control from a phone nearby.

Baldwin suits homeowners who care about the look of their front-door hardware and want a smart deadbolt that matches traditional or upscale finishes, rather than a lock styled primarily as a gadget. Check the listing for finish, door thickness and backset requirements before buying, and confirm how your chosen Matter controller handles lock features such as remote unlocking.
