Shelly launched the Presence Gen4 in North America on October 15, 2026, according to a Shelly USA press release published by IoT For All. The sensor is listed at $84.99 on Shelly's US store in white or black, and the press release says it will reach retailers including Micro Center, Best Buy, Newegg and Amazon soon. It uses 60-64 GHz mmWave radar to detect people even when they're sitting still, and you can set up to 10 detection zones so automations only fire for the part of a room that's in use. There's also a built-in light sensor that reports dark, twilight and bright states, and filters that ignore near-ground movement from pets or robot vacuums.
Shelly's product page says the Presence Gen4 connects over Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5 LE and Zigbee 3.0 and supports Matter over Wi-Fi. It ships with Matter firmware, and pressing its button five times switches it to Zigbee firmware and back. The Connectivity Standards Alliance lists the sensor as Matter certified, against Matter 1.3 with firmware 1.3.0-s1, certified November 18, 2025. In a Matter app, only one room zone is visible by default. You can expose up to ten zones, and each one appears as a separate component. Shelly also lists Amazon Alexa (as a motion sensor), Google Home (occupancy sensing), SmartThings (presence sensor) and Home Assistant support, and the press release adds Apple Home.
The Presence Gen4 isn't battery powered. It runs continuously from USB-C at 5 V (1 A) and draws 2.5 W nominal, 3.5 W at most. Shelly recommends a dedicated 5 V adapter with a stable output and warns against multi-port and fast-charging adapters. Its product page doesn't say whether an adapter is included. It can track up to 6 people at once, according to Shelly's specification table and the CSA listing. Shelly's coverage figures don't all match. Shelly's specs give a detection area of up to 8 x 8 m (26 x 26 ft) when wall-mounted and 7 x 7 m (23 x 23 ft) in a corner, with still detection up to 3 m (about 10 ft). Its feature list cites 42 square meters (about 450 sq ft), and the press release claims up to 650 sq ft.
